Benefits, Coronavirus

I am a student nurse and would like to help during the pandemic. Can I do this and would my benefits be affected?

Key workers, such as nurses, can still work despite the restrictions introduced as a result of the coronavirus.

If you get paid for this work then tax credits, housing benefit, council tax reduction and universal credit will be affected. If the work you are doing is voluntary, i.e you are not being paid, your benefits will not be affected but you will have to complete any tasks you are still expected to do in order to keep you benefits.

For example if you are still supposed to be writing your CV you still need to do this.
