I am self-employed and unable to work at the moment. I can apply for the new self employed grant from the Government but will it affect my tax credit and is it taxed?

The new grant from the Self- employment income Support Scheme can pay 80% of your average income up to a limit of £2500 per month for 3 months. The grant is taxed and will be added to you income when calculating tax credits but it does not have to be paid back.

If you met the eligibility criteria HMRC will contact you and invite you to claim on-line.
