Scottish Child Payment
Last updated: 02/03/2021
You could be entitled to the new Scottish Child Payment which will give eligible families £10 per week for each child under six to help with the costs of looking after your child.
The first decision and payments for parents who qualify and have children under six have started from Monday 15th February 2021. If you applied before Monday 15/02/21 you will get a decision and should receive your first payment no later than the end of April.
The quicker you apply the sooner a decision can be made on your application so we’d encourage everyone who’s eligible to apply as soon as they can. If you have applied after the 16th of February you will only be award the payment from the date that you apply so the longer you leave it the more you will miss out.
If you included your mobile number on your application, you will receive a text every two weeks to update you on the progress of your application until you receive your decision letter.
If your child is aged five or under and you receive Child Tax Credit, Income Support, Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit, Universal Credit, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance you should be able to get the Scottish Child Payment.
You can apply via freephone helpline on 0800 182 2222, by post or online.
