Scottish Child Payment

The new Scottish Child Payment is £10 per week given to eligible families for each child under the age of 6. It is expected to be rolled out to children under the age of 16 by the end of 2022.
The payment does not affect any other benefits you are receiving.
Who can get the Scottish Child Payment?
The payment will be made to the parent getting one of the benefits below:
- Universal credit
- Income support
- Income-based jobseeker’s allowance
- Income-related employment and support allowance
- Pension credit
- Housing benefit
- Child tax credit
- Working tax credit
How to apply
Payments start from Monday 15th February 2021. If you applied before Monday 15/02/21 you will get a decision on whether you are eligible and should receive your first payment no later than the end of April.
Applications made after the 16th of February you will only be award the payment from the application date so parents sould apply as soon as they become eligible.
If you included your mobile number on your application, you will receive a text every two weeks to update you on the progress of your application until you receive your decision letter.
When the payment is in place it will stop when your child reaches 6 until the second roll out for children aged 6- 16.
