Changes to benefits in Scotland

The Scottish Government have responsibility for some benefits and the option to change how others were administered. This means that some benefits in Scotland are different from those in the rest of the UK.


Scottish Child Payment

The new Scottish Child Payment was due to start in December 2020 for families with a child under six. As a result of coronavirus this has been delayed.


Carers Allowance Supplement

The Scottish Government is paying a supplement to people in receipt of carer’s allowance.


Child Disability Payment

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children will be transferred to the Scottish Government in 2020 and will be renamed the Child Disability Payment.
