“We are extremely pleased the Scottish Government has announced plans to mitigate the impact of the UK government’s 2 child limit to social security support. This is an extremely cruel policy and has resulted in families having to choose between heating and food . In 2024 almost half of the families in Scotland affected by the two-child limit are single parent families, as they often rely more heavily on benefits. This announcement is a really welcome recognition of its adverse effects on child poverty and family well-being.”
