Winter Heating Payment has replaced Cold Weather Payment in Scotland. It is a payment of £55.05, from the Scottish Government, to help with the cost of fuel.

Who can get Winter Heating Payment?
You will receive the payment if you are getting one of the following benefits:-
- Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Support for Mortgage Interest Loan and also have a disability or pensioners premium or you get Child Tax Credit that includes a child disability element or have a disabled child or child under 5 living with you
- Pension Credit
- Universal Credit and are not employed and have limited capability for work or limited capability for work and work related activity or have a disabled child or have a child under 5 living with you
- Universal Credit and are employed and have a disabled child
How is the Winter Heating Payment made?
The Winter Heating Payment is £55.05 paid automatically into your bank if you are getting one of the qualifying benefits. You do not need to apply for it. You will receive 2 £25 payments each year.
Payments for winter 2023 to 2024 will begin from the middle of December.
Social Security Scotland expects to pay the majority of eligible people by the end of January 2024. You’ll receive a letter from Social Security Scotland before they make the payment.
