Parents supported by OPFS suggested ideas on how to use £10,000 in their school to reduce the cost of the school day.

We came to this community funding decision making day to make a decision to benefit our school and have a bit of fun its brilliant today, it’s very nice. I wish we could have days like this more often.

An OPFS project, using a participatory budgeting approach, funded by Scottish Government, held an event for parents and children from two primary schools in Castlemilk. Over 170 parents, families and children attended. Parents and children pitched ideas to those attending, on how to use £20,000  in each school to reduce the cost of the school day. The parents from the two groups had been supported by OPFS over a period of months to suggest ideas on how to use £10,000 in their school to reduce the cost of the school day. Parents helped organise the day and took the lead in the activities.
