All our local services work with young single parents, while in Glasgow and Lanarkshire we have a dedicated Young Parents Worker and Young Parents Hub. At the Hub you can meet other young parents who are in a similar situation as you.

We can also help you to access training courses which include:

  • confidence building
  • parenting
  • budgeting
  • healthy eating
  • preparation for entering college or employment.

Young Parents Hub

Being a young parent is rewarding and challenging. At our Young Parent Hub, you can meet other young parents who are in a similar situation as you. Get some time for yourself and learn about how to make life a little easier when bringing up your baby.

Please call our offices to speak with our Young Parents Worker who can arrange to meet with you to share information on coming along to your local Young Parent Hub.

Training Courses

It can be difficult to find time for yourself when you are bringing up young children. Thinking about accessing training isn’t always top of your list.

Please call our offices to speak with our Young Parents Worker who will help you to access training courses that will best suit your circumstances. Courses could be about confidence building, parenting, budgeting, healthy eating and lots more!

Entering College

We can help you to prepare for and enter college. Young Parents have told us that it can be difficult to think about themselves and what they want to do when bringing up a young child or a baby.

Please call our offices to speak with our Young Parents Worker to get some advice, information, help and support on entering college.

Entering Work

If you are a Young Parent and your goal is to get into suitable employment, please call our Young Parents Worker to get all the help you need to look at the practicalities of getting a job and suitable childcare.

We can help you to decide what kind of work would suit you, including:

  • build a C.V.
  • job search
  • complete application forms
  • preparation for your interview

Covering your tracks

You may not want other people to know that you’ve been searching for information or help from OPFS.

When browsing the internet whether on a mobile phone, tablet or computer, you leave a ‘history’ trail of pages and sites you’ve visited.

It’s impossible to completely avoid being tracked online but if you’re worried about someone knowing which sites you’ve been looking at, there are some things you can do to help cover your tracks.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer, try keeping another document or website open in a new tab or window while browsing. If someone comes in the room and you don’t want them to see what you’re looking at, you can quickly switch to another window or tab.

Deleting browsing history

You can delete the history of websites you’ve visited, but it’s important to know that if you delete your browsing history, someone else using the same device may notice.

If you share a tablet, mobile phone, laptop or computer with someone, they might notice that passwords or website addresses have disappeared from their history.

Browsing in Private mode (incognito)

When browsing ‘incognito’, the internet browser won’t store cookies or record your browsing history on the computer, mobile or tablet.
