Universal Credit: Single Parents - Gender Issues

For most of the benefits being replaced by Universal Credit, women make up the clear majority of claimants. Only with JSA do men constitute a significant majority. It therefore follows that the impact of the government welfare changes will fall disproportionately on women, a high percentage of whom will be single mothers.
