Benefit sanctions policy beyond the Oakley Review

The Westminster’s Work and Pensions Committee conducted an inquiry into benefit sanctions policy. This inquiry considered aspects of sanctions policy which were outside the remit of the Oakley review. Benefit sanctions involve the suspension of benefit payments for a set period, where claimants “fail to meet certain conditions.” OPFS submission focused on conditionality and the benefits sanction regime as this is an area which is impacting greatly on single parents and their children.
