This year’s Single Parents Day, on March 21st, will be a positive and uplifting occasion, with events taking place across OPFS local services

The theme for Single Parents Day 2025 is ‘community’.

The theme for this year's Single Parents Day is "Single Parent Community," focusing on uniting organisations that support single parents under a common message and raising awareness about the resources available to them across the UK and Ireland.

Open days and events for Single Parents Day 2025

At OPFS, we will be running a series of open days across our Dundee, Falkirk, Glasgow and North Lanarkshire services, giving people an opportunity to get to know about support available in their local area as well as to find out more about our national online parent forum and our Lone Parent Helpline and webchat services.

  • Motherwell: Single parents, bring your kids along for a day of fun and celebration. Games, crafts, storytime, free raffle, cake, and add to our ‘Wish tree’. Friday 21 March, 11am – 2pm. 
  • Dundee: Messy room for children to play, movie and beauty rooms for single parents to relax, and making bird houses in the garden. There will also be food to celebrate Single Parents Day with us. Single parent families welcome, and partner organsations can join us to mingle and celebrate too. Friday 21 March, 10am – 2pm.
  • Falkirk:  Come along to our open day and connect with others over a cuppa, buffet and wellbeing activities. Single parents and partner organisation welcome. If you can please email us to let us know if you would like to join us. Friday 21 March, 11am – 1pm.
  • Glasgow:  Come to our Glasgow offices to unwind, enjoy a cuppa and cake with our staff, and share your stories if you wish – or simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There will be activities including bingo, chair yoga and free books. Refreshments will be available. Friday 21 March, 10.30am – 2pm.

Covering your tracks

You may not want other people to know that you’ve been searching for information or help from OPFS.

When browsing the internet whether on a mobile phone, tablet or computer, you leave a ‘history’ trail of pages and sites you’ve visited.

It’s impossible to completely avoid being tracked online but if you’re worried about someone knowing which sites you’ve been looking at, there are some things you can do to help cover your tracks.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer, try keeping another document or website open in a new tab or window while browsing. If someone comes in the room and you don’t want them to see what you’re looking at, you can quickly switch to another window or tab.

Deleting browsing history

You can delete the history of websites you’ve visited, but it’s important to know that if you delete your browsing history, someone else using the same device may notice.

If you share a tablet, mobile phone, laptop or computer with someone, they might notice that passwords or website addresses have disappeared from their history.

Browsing in Private mode (incognito)

When browsing ‘incognito’, the internet browser won’t store cookies or record your browsing history on the computer, mobile or tablet.
