Kiltwalk for OPFS

Kiltwalk is a fun, low cost event that you can join to raise funds for OPFS. With your fundraising efforts we could reduce the impact of poverty brought about by the cost of living crisis and ensure children are able to eat, play, learn and stay warm in their homes.

Celebrate 80th year of OPFS by joining the 9th Kiltwalk. Everyone can take part. It’s a fun, easy way to raise funds and meet people supporting over 3000 Scottish charities.

You can choose a route that suits you. Route lengths vary slightly depending on location:

Wee Wander for 3 to 5.5 miles, children and dogs can join in too. No need to train for this event.

Big Stroll for 11 miles in Edinburgh, 14 miles in Glasgow (not available in Dundee and Aberdeen)

Or if you’re feeling up to a challenge you could walk for 23 miles, in the Mighty Stride.

It is easy to join a Kiltwalk. Choose the location that you would like to join a Kiltwalk:

Choose which length of event you would like to participate in and remember to input ‘One Parent Families Scotland’ as the charity you would like to fundraise for.

When you have signed up create a JustGiving page and share with your contacts for sponsorship. All money raised including your sign-up cost of up to £20 will be donated to OPFS, thanks to The Hunter Foundation underwriting to cover costs.

We would love to hear from you are joining a Kiltwalk or taking part in any other fundraising event for OPFS. You can email us to share your story. Tell us what event you’re taking part in, why you choose OPFS. This is even more effective if you’re willing to share a short (less than 2 minutes) video speaking about your fundraising.

Covering your tracks

You may not want other people to know that you’ve been searching for information or help from OPFS.

When browsing the internet whether on a mobile phone, tablet or computer, you leave a ‘history’ trail of pages and sites you’ve visited.

It’s impossible to completely avoid being tracked online but if you’re worried about someone knowing which sites you’ve been looking at, there are some things you can do to help cover your tracks.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer, try keeping another document or website open in a new tab or window while browsing. If someone comes in the room and you don’t want them to see what you’re looking at, you can quickly switch to another window or tab.

Deleting browsing history

You can delete the history of websites you’ve visited, but it’s important to know that if you delete your browsing history, someone else using the same device may notice.

If you share a tablet, mobile phone, laptop or computer with someone, they might notice that passwords or website addresses have disappeared from their history.
