Marion Davis, Director Policy, Communcation & Strategy at One Parent Families Scotland said:
“After today, One Parent Families Scotland will stop posting on Twitter/X. This is because we have worries about the dissemination of misinformation, declining engagement and platform governance. After thorough internal discussions and a review of our social media strategy, we found that engagement was declining and that maintaining meaningful professional discourse on the platform has become increasingly challenging.
“We believe it is vital to foster conversations on social media that align with our values and ethos. The rise of misinformation and its impact on democracy, alongside ethical considerations like mental health, have driven our decision to step away from Twitter/X.
“We’re grateful to our more than 7,000 followers for their engagement on Twitter (X) over the years. Now we invite you to join us on alternative platforms, where we will continue to work towards achieving OPFS’s vision: a Scotland where single parent families are celebrated in all their diversity, are treated fairly and can live free from discrimination and poverty.
“Our Twitter/X account will remain live as an archive, preserving access to historical content and data. Meanwhile, we’re excited to expand our presence on BlueSky and we look forward to connecting with you there.”
