Scottish Child Payment and Bridging Payments

The Scottish Child Payment is £10 per week given to eligible families for each child under the age of 6. It will be rolled out to children between the age of 6 and 16 by the end of 2022. Until then the Scottish Government will pay eligible families Scottish Child Payment Bridging Payments.

The Scottish Government is paying an extra amount of money to carers in Scotland called the Carer’s Allowance Supplement and Young Carer Grant.

Child Disability Payment and Child Winter Heating Assistance are given by the Scottish Government to help with the costs of caring for children with a disability or illness.

Best Start Grant helps with the costs when you have a baby. There is also help when your child starts nursery and school.

Funeral Support Payment is money to help pay for the costs of a funeral or cremation. It can help pay for the cost of the funeral of an adult, a child or a still born baby born after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

COVID Support Fund for Children and Families

The Scottish Government has provided Local Authorities additional funding for children who get Free School Meals (FSM). Families will receive a payment of £100 per child to help over the Christmas 2020 school holiday. A further additional payment will be made to cover the Spring break.
