Annual Report & accounts for 2023/24

One Parent Families Scotland works to enable single parent families achieve their potential, to reach a decent standard of living and contribute to Scottish society.

Our thanks go to many incredible single parents across Scotland, our co-producers and experts, who continually inspire us, as they face daily challenges, putting the needs of their children first. Thank you for trusting OPFS to be able to give single parents a voice.

As we mark 80 years, we reflect on Scotland’s progress in supporting single parents and their children while recognising the work still needed to ensure every family thrives. This report highlights how our efforts are shaped by the resilience of single parents facing challenges like austerity, rising costs, and poverty.

Although governments have introduced cost-of-living support, more action is needed to address the ongoing crisis and provide sustained assistance for those most in need. The strength of the families we serve drives our mission, as we co-produce services and policies with parents to ensure OPFS remains trusted by single parents and influential among policymakers.

We continue to offer holistic support, collaborate across teams and with partners, and advocate for single parent-friendly services. This report showcases the depth of our work, providing valuable insights for funders and partners.

Covering your tracks

You may not want other people to know that you’ve been searching for information or help from OPFS.

When browsing the internet whether on a mobile phone, tablet or computer, you leave a ‘history’ trail of pages and sites you’ve visited.

It’s impossible to completely avoid being tracked online but if you’re worried about someone knowing which sites you’ve been looking at, there are some things you can do to help cover your tracks.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer, try keeping another document or website open in a new tab or window while browsing. If someone comes in the room and you don’t want them to see what you’re looking at, you can quickly switch to another window or tab.

Deleting browsing history

You can delete the history of websites you’ve visited, but it’s important to know that if you delete your browsing history, someone else using the same device may notice.

If you share a tablet, mobile phone, laptop or computer with someone, they might notice that passwords or website addresses have disappeared from their history.
